Following Snake's first confrontation with the new Metal Gear, you have the option to save the game at this point. Then, you can view the prologue which shows Snake in a graveyard, a scene reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid 3 ending.

When that is finished and you are back at the game, you will be briefed by Otacon on the OctoCamo. Inform him about the MK. II, which is north of where Snake is currently at.

Before you move on, you have to make good use of this OctoCamo. Lie still on the ground, stay cautious and let the Octocamo blend in with the stone, as you slowly crawl your way through the main street. When you get here, you will notice that things are much pacified.

As you start out, you will see only a couple of soldiers but as you go further down the street, a tank will arrive and a battle group will start to line up. However, this is still a much better situation as compared to what happened a few moments ago.

Do not make any move yet, just wait until the troops make their attack. When they do, crawl down the street and into the building towards the southwest corner. There is a petro bomb inside, and you will also find the cardboard box in a small room down the hall.

After that, go back by following the same way you went in and then crawl to the street until you reach the east side. From there, proceed to the north by using the shadows, while at the same time trying to avoid the soldiers that you meet along the way.

Once you've done that, you can make your way into the ruins near the tank. A body will drop from the building's second story, and you will find a couple more dead soldiers in a small room with an open window. Collect their ammo and go out as soon as everything is clear. You will also spot another soldier outside, but because he is searching through the west side of the building, you can sneak in and make your way to the van through the door behind it.

Although the area is one long path, you can find a place to hide on the southern side, which has an enclosed area. Make sure to sway the direction of the camera, so you can see down the corridor and watch as soldiers walk on it. As soon as a soldier has passed, slip unnoticed and use the boxes and crates as cover. Be warned though about more soldiers patrolling the streets, so wait for the best possible chance before you cross the street and enter the building to the north.
