You're a tad late with the info there AJ. I announced the game a couple months back. It's scheduled to be released October 11th so for those wondering....yeah. It's also planned for a $39.99 pricepoint which would make one think that it won't ship with the headset like the first one did. I didn't buy the first and probably won't get the second either but we'll see. Well, i hope that you all enjoy posting and have fun gaming.

I play the game online regularly and the rumor being tossed around with guys I have talked to between rounds is that the new game will be pay to play like Everquest, Is this true? I really hope not because I play alot. The game is very addicting because you are not playing with or against limited AI, it's real people sitting at home like you just trying to get another kill. I actually have one new game I haven't played yet because I like SOCOM so much. The real problem with SOCOM are all the cheaters with codes like armor, "no vote" or "team killers" who sneak in your game and kill your whole team because friendly fire is on. These pieces of :stink: can ruin a whole game. They are annoying but all you do is find or create another game. Anyhow Mad do you know if its pay to play yet?.......Thanks, XR8TD.

Sony hasn't given details on the game and that includes if or how you would pay for the playtime. My guess is that the game will be just as free as it is with the original. Well, i hope that you enjoy posting and have fun gaming.

Seeing as it's one of those games where people can host thier own servers, I can pretty much garuntee that it will be free to play. Everquest has a monthly fee because the servers are all hosted 24/7 by Sony (I believe), and these servers have running costs.

Actually SOCOM isnt self hosted, all the host is hosting is the headsets. Persistant world servers like for EQ do cost more than the servers of SOCOM, but SOCOM does have server costs. An example of truely self hosted PS2 games are Tribes AA and Midnight Club 2.

That said the word on the web is SOCOM 2 will have no play fee's, we will have to wait for E3 to know for sure.

My E3 guess ..... or wish lol is US HDD anouncment, and HDD support for FFXI, GT4 and SOCOM 2.

E3 will be the launching pad for the HDD unit from Sony. It will need to either be released alongside FFXI or before it since FFXI requires the HDD to play. No word on if GT4 or Socom 2 will use it but since Sony did change Socom's release back to mid October and FFXI is planned for October, i wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason.

Until E3, though, all will be speculation. We shall be covering the news as it breaks so keep an eye out for it. Well, i hope that you all enjoy posting and have fun gaming.
