:woot: There was a very interesting Teletext discussion the other day about Quick saves and I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks. Times were when you could only save at the end of a level, or at a certain point (as per Tomb Raider) so you ended up having to do the same thing again and again if you died without saving. Now it seems you can save anywhere you like, is this a good thing? Does everyone do it or do you challenge yourselves to go more than 10 yards before you hit the quicksave button? Is it a good thing? Is it cheating? Views please!

I believe it's a double edged sword. I personally enjoy the ability to save whenever I choose, but as I wrote in a previous post you can really screw yourself up. I don't see it as cheating at all, todays games are more storyline based and therefore you do have an eventual goal as opposed to Space Invaders where it's score oriented. I think save features have become an integral part of gaming. Hell, I had to save in 34 different places to finally get through the Hall Of Seasons in Angel Of Darkness, and I'm glad I did. However I've also saved in a no win situation on games which has made me have to start at the beginning again. eace:

I really have no problem with either. I enjoyed the 'save system' in MGS, you simply had to call Mei Ling and she would save your progress wherever you were in the game. But then again I enjoy the challenge (sometimes Both types have there good points and bad points, it is really just how it is set up in the game.

I think quick saves are a good idea.Games nowadays because they are mostly storybased they are bloody hard so you need to save more often.

It actually depends what type of game u r playing ... If its an action/adventure then i think quick saves are good if its only an action game as in u have different stages/levels then the normal save method is good ! It also depends upon the difficulty of the game ... but i agree that quick saves make the game a whole lot easier ... I like a challenge ... so i think saving at a certain point is good !!
