Just heard today that the PS2 Network Adapter is, as of right now, due for release in early October. It'll set you back about $60 (59.95 RRP, it'll no doubt be $58 where I work), and the current list of online games include.... (the w00tage symbolises the games i'm really interested in)

Hardware Online: Arenas
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Midnight Club II
Twisted Metal: Black Online
Destruction Derby: Arenas
Gran Turismo 4
SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals
EverQuest Online Adventures
Amplitude
My Street
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain
Tribes: Aerial Assault

Seeing as I took a pamphlet from work, i'll be happy to answer any questions. I also think it would be safe to assume that our network will be more stable than the American one, they get crappy network so Sony can work out all the bugs and it's good for when it comes out over here

[Speaking of crappy networks, I feel compelled to mention the power outage *snickers* sorry, I couldn't help myself :P ]

Due to the lack of :woot: beside any of the games, I guess your not interested in any of the games then?

As for our power outage over here, we are getting along just fine. As you may have guessed I have power, but as for yesterday I now know how you Aussies felt 6 months ago before you joined us in the modern era of civilized nations.

Well I took out the woots because there was like 6 of them and they were eyesores, obviously I forgot to remove that sentence. I can edit them back in though if you'd like.
The games i'm interested in are.....

Midnight Club 2 :woot:
Gran Turismo 4 :woot:
SOCOM :woot:
EverQuest :woot:
Syphon Filter :woot:
My Street (it looks fun, really)

As for 'joining you in the modern era', I think we've gone right ahead into the future since we had our country fit with more than one power generator.

one power generator.
Too bad it is gas powered generator that you guys only get for a day until you have to pass it along to your neighbour.

By the way can you check the community list and see when it is Fat Jiffy's turn? I haven't seen him on for a while.

Thanks.

I think that I may just ask for the network adapter for X-mas. I look forward to lapping you a few times in GT4.

Please forgive my ignorance but is the network adaptor and all and necessary cords (and a telephone line) all you need to hook up

Unfortunately no, Digger. The network adapter acts as a network component only (just like a network card in your PC). In order to play online, you'll also need an ADSL enabled phoneline and modem or a cable modem (and a cable ISP). You then use a regular (CAT5) blue network cable from your PS2 Network Adapter to either a HUB (which is connected to your modem) or straight to the modem. I've PM'd you with a link to the official site which probably explains this better than I have - plus it has diagrams

Thanks for the PM and info Killa. Looks like I've got some reading to do :helpme:

Despite being a member for sometime now, I still only have internet access at work so I'm a little ignorant about hooking up etc ump:

One thing KiLLa, the network still has plenty of bugs still in it so i wouldn't think that your network will be too much better. Of course it'll be better than when the North American one started but it surely won't be perfected.

Oh, and half of those games you listed aren't out until next year so it's gonna kinda suck on that front. Well, i hope that you enjoy posting and have fun gaming.
