I bought this game a few weeks ago and I really like it!
I would have to say it is much more fun to play then Mafia was.
I havn't got to far in the game yet as I am only up to Capo so far
and I am stuck on a mission right now...

What do you think of this game? and or what are you playing right now?

i've already finished the game a 100%.

I'd say its a good game, the story missions were pretty awesome. but the side quests are VERY repetitive. All the shops of a same kind have the same interior design. The driving bits were pretty hard too. The cars wouldn't stay in track. But it was a good game. Much better then EA's last movie to game conversion (from russia with love)

Just about finished it but just cant stop myself from popping BLACK in my console h34r:" class="inlineimg" />

I enjoyed the story missions but find the rest to get pretty repeditive. Quite an easy game over all tho.

Must say I much prefered "007 - From Russia with Love"

I've been wanting to check it out. How would you rate it on a 1-10 scale?

Would you recommend renting it first? Sounds like it may be easy to beat?

Definitelly rent it first...... you could finish it in a weekend really.

Once you've bought the gold star weapons you're pretty hard to take down. Taking over shops and rackets are all the same and easy where warehouses are a little tougher. The contract hits are pretty cool. On a whole I thought the game was only average once you've completed the story based missions. Shops, rackets, warehouses ect. all look the same........ very repeditive.

the main story missions of the game are extremely easy, the hardest bits of the game come when you have to take down the warehouses and main hideouts of the other families.

but as shagger said above, once you get the best weaponry and upgrade your skills to the max, you can pretty much take out enemies one shot each.

Definley a renter.

I guess I'll have to go buy a gold weapon and take on the wherehouses....

I still like it better then Mafia!

its not that easy to get the gold weaponry though, they're very expensive, the best advice i can give you is to save up for the Street Sweeper, the gold level shotgun. Thats the best overall weapon in the game. One shot = enemy dead.

Reading this thread has made me glad that I never bought the game. Considering I rarely like Action games (though it happens), this sounds like it wouldn't be for me. While you all say it's easy, to me that sounds like I would die a lot. I get frustrated easily, so I'd probably give up.

Man, I suck ^^;;

Thumbs down

I just borrowed this game from my friend yesterday. He loves everything to do with gangsters and mobsters, so I couldn't completely believe his opinions about this game. I've watched him play for a few minutes and I must say it does look pretty good. I Didn't get a chance to play it yet, but once I do I'll let you guys know what I think of it.

the game's not all that bad though. Character faces, animations, and especially voices are all done superbly.

But thats the main flaw, EA focused way too much on the presentation and threw in the gameplay just for the sake of it.

Once you've completed the main story missions there are other things to do. You'll need to take over all the shops, raquets and wherehouses and collect 100 hidden movie reels. There are also 'hits' you must do if you want to complete the game 100%

Your aim is to become "The Don" of New York but altho you go up thru the ranks pretty quickly it makes no difference to your character, only the money you rake in. You would think that at least once you are "The Don" you would be able to pull some strings.........

All said tho, the story missions of the game are really pretty cool.

Compare it to GTA...... mmmmm can you compare anything to GTA ?!?

The Godfather is basicaly the same (similar) concept of free roaming as GTA, only set in the 1940/50's. The vehicle selection is minimal, only 4 vehicles throughout the game. There are no mini games, and minimal weapons.

the 'free roaming' isnt as free as GTA either. Even Parallel lines had better free roaming.
