Most gamers, I'm sure, know the name Jack Thompson. He has been making himself very much active in videogame-related lawsuits and making public his views about violent games. Well, he's found himself another target- The Florida Bar, which he is a member of.
In a story originally printed in the North Country Gazette (a newspaper serving the Tri-State area) it's reported that Thompson believes the Bar Association has collaborated with opposition lawyers in lawsuits against GTA and Howard Stern and encouraging people to file SLAPP ( Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation ) claims against him for a period of about a year and a half. SLAPP complaints are intended to discourage people from expressing their point of view on the topic at hand through intimidation and the legal costs of trying to defend oneself against the complaint.
This is the second time he's sued the Bar- first time was in the 1990s when he alledged collaboration between the Bar and pornographers. That suit lasted several years and a settlement was paid to Thompson.
