During an interview with gaming news web site gameindustry.biz David Wilson of SCE UK said both versions of the PS3 are likely to go on sale in the UK- just not necessarily on launch day.
Sony is currently in an "open consultation period" with consumers and retailers to decide on the best way to handle the pending launch. The tricky bit is offering the choice without confusing te consumers while also meeting the needs of the sellers.
He also confirmed a report from British business newspaper MCV that Sony had been discussing a possible plan to have buyers wanting to preorder put down a deposit of GBP 150. This looks to a suggestion from the retailer side, however, and any thought of Sony being committed to this is just speculation on their part.
The interview ended with mention that Sony plans to reveal more details on the launch in 2 or 3 weeks. As many already know it has been revealed previously the PS3 will be released in the uK on november 17 at a price of GBP 425.
