During a quick glance through the PlayStation Store on my PlayStation 3 I noticed a few additions- Sony has made available for purchase the first of their downloadable PSOne games for play on the PSP.
The games are USD$5.99/ CAD$6.99 to purchase. To be able to play the games your PlayStation Portable must be upgraded to the latest firmware (v 3.01) and you must connect your PSP via the USB cable prior to purchase. When you buy the game you also get a "usage ticket" which must be included with the game software to play on the PSP. The fee is a one-time-only charge and allows for download and play on up to 5 activated PSPs.
The game sizes range from 157 MB to 535 MB in size- depending on the game you buy you will need a 512 MB pro duo memory stick (minimum) to use these games. As of yet the PSOne games are not playable on the PlayStation 3 but this will likely be rectified with a firmware upgrade.
The titles currently available are Cool Boarders, Crash Bandicoot, Hot Shots Golf 2, Syphon Filter and Tekken 2. More titles will be added as they become available.
