Littlewoods, the UK department store and online retailer, has started taking preorders for the PlayStation 3 on their web site. Several bundles are available , all featuring the 60 GB model, starting at a price of £549 (USD $1,086) for a PS3 and the game Motorstorm.
Other bundles include one going for £609 ($1,204) which included 2 games, Risistance: Fall Of Man and Call Of Duty 3. The most expensive bundle gets you the system and 4 games (Gengi: Days Of The Blade, Motorstorm, Sonic The Hedgehog and Tony Hawk's Project 8) for a mere £699 ($1,383).
Extra controllers can be had for £39 ($77). Twelve games are listed on the site in all and priced at £55 ($108) each. Someof these titles include Rainbow Six: Vegas, SingStar and Pimp My Ride. Delivery is promised "within 17 weeks".
Other retailers are holding off for now on preorders. A Woolworths rep said
"It is too early to take PS3 preorders. It is vitally important to have visibility of stock levels before taking customer orders to avoid disappointing any customers." Meantime, a spokesperson for Argos said "All I can tell you is that we will be in the near future but the date has yet to be finalised."
