| As a dedicated site of all Sony consoles, we aim to bring you up to date news about anything and everything relating to Sony consoles. Well, I'm here to release some information that I was told yesterday. As everyone on this site knows, I've had a PS3 pre-ordered since last June. Anyway, I was contacted yesterday relating to my order. This is what I was told: Apparently, Sony ARE doing console bundles at launch. The bundles will include the following:
Sony's reason for not providing a cable of any sort? Apparently, people own so many different tvs that it would be difficult to provide a cable suitable for all. So, instead of giving you a choice of cable, for free, you will have to buy one seperately at a price of at least £12.99 (GBP 12.99). So the total cost of a PS3 at launch? £499 for the bundle and £12.99 for a cable coming to a grand total of £511.99. Now as a reminder, I must stress that this is what I was told. As of this moment in time, Sony have not officially confirmed whether this will happen. However, as the UK launch is now only 6 weeks away, it is looking more and more likely that this could be what happens. Jay (Site Squad) |

| Sounds like the store you preordered from is trying to pass the buck somewhat. Sony never has forced a bundle on new systems. They may put a game in with the system later on like they did with Gran Turismo 3 and the PS2 but they never say "you can get the system only if you buy these games too". I can't see the "no cable included" bit being true either. At the very least they would include composite cables like they did in North America and other areas where the system has already launched. Quick summary- that place is feeding you a bunch of bull and i would consider getting your money back and ordering elsewhere. |

| Jay, I can confirm that there is at least one UK retailer who is selling JUST the PS3 console without any extras. I have a letter from them confirming this and delivery on the 23rd March. At least they are not forcing you to buy a PSP too ! (like HMV) |

| Long time no see Jim! In case you didn't notice the news item I put up a couple of days ago HMV took that PSP bundling bit off- they're selling the PS3 on its own now and anyone that ordered the bundle has the option of dropping the PSP. |

| Hi Lyndon The damage is done for me... HMV would have to sell them at less than cost price to get me to buy anything from their stores again. Over the last few days I have spoken to most of the large retailers to get an idea about what is going to happen when the PS3 launches in the UK and things are looking good. The combination of the high price point and time of the year means that getting a hold of one will be easier than the farce that was the 360 launch over here. As you mentioned the other day, 220K units for the UK is almost what the whole of the USA had in November. I don't want to name any names, but there are stores that will guarantee you one on release day even now ! |

| Well I received my pre-order email from Game this morning saying you're finally able to pre-order the PS3 on their site. However, if you look on their site, they too only have bundles available for sale. They currently have two different bundles. The first costs £554.96 and has the following:
We'll have to see. Jay p.s. On a personal note, I tried to calculate how much my bundle would cost me if I bought it all seperately and I AM actually making a saving (like most bundles do). Seperately, for a PS3, Game, Cable, Extra Controller, and Blu-Ray Remote it would breakdown as follows:

| "A cable"? It came with several cables- a composite cable for hooking up to the tv (which i didn't use because I had an HDMI cable at the ready), a USB cable forcharging the controllers and a short bit of ethernet cable (too short to be of use to most). |

| Howdy all! Just a note from me ol Worf, I bought my PS3 60 GB a week before christmas and it was a bundle package too, to bad for me at that time because I didn't want nine games right off the bat. The only game I openned and really liked was Resistance: Fall of Man. Within less then a month, the store I bought it at got another shipment of consules that were not bundle packages.... I was able to take the eight unopened games back for a refund. Boy was I glad!! :-) Worfsonofmog |
