Wasn't long before the higher- ups in Sony heard about the concerns about backward compatibility in the UK and Europe. As you will recall, it was announced that the Emotion Engine chipset was being removed from the UK and European PlayStation 3 units in favor of software emulation.

Phil Harisson, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, had an interview with semi-official blog Threespeech and put to rest fears of compatibility problems. According to him, at launch there should be over one thousand titles on the compatibility list when the launch hits March 23.

With that being said, it may not be a matter of "will it play" but more "which one to play".
