Where heard? Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay (speaking to French newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace)

Apparently, the exclusivity of the long standing mega-franchise that is Final Fantasy, could be under review.

Fornay, reportedly stated, "The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day [in France] 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007... As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

So, what will become of our beloved Final Fantasy franchise? Will we lose the XIIIth incarnation of this hugely popular series to the likes of the XBOX360 and possibly even Wii?
I can say, hand on heart, that it would be a sad day for Sony if they lost the exclusive rights to that main franchise.

Square-Enix have developed games for other consoles, but the true heart and soul of the Final Fantasy Franchise has been with Sony since the Uber release that was Final Fantasy VII back on the good ol' Playstation.

Regarding the exclusivity discussions, Square Enix are apparently yet to respond to what Fornay said.

it would be very sad if we lost final fantasy to the dreaded 360 i would be so angry the 360 does not deserve the wonderful franchise of final fantasy Playstation brought final fantasy where it is today and will continue to do so I think xbox would kill final fantasy. it's to good for xbox
