Default ALL - Thompson, Take-Two Settle Lawsuits

The soap opera that was the battle between Florida lawyer Jack Thompson and Take-Two Interactive has come to an end with both sides agreeing to drop all suits.

The latest battle started with Take-Two filing suit against Thompson to attempt to circumvent threats to halt the launch of Manhunt 2. Thompson, in return, filed a counter suit under Florida's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act.

The settlement, filed today with Federal District Court Judge Cecilia Altonaga, sees both sides drop their respective suits. Also, Take-Two agreed to drop the contempt of court lawsuit against Thompson which occurred after the failed attempt to block the sale of Bully.

In return, Jack Thompson agrees to never sue or threaten to sue Take-Two or any of its subsidiaries to block sale or distribution of any game the company is publishing and is also barred from communicating with any of the company's business associates with allegations that selling Take-Two games is illegal or wrong. He can still freely voice his criticism of the company and its games as well as be legal counsel for third parties who wish to place lawsuits against the company. Any contact between Thompson and take two must be done through Take-Two's attorneys.
