Good news for those playing Resistance: Fall of Man online. Sometime next week Insomniac and Sony are releasing some new maps to play, entitled Westmorland and Camborne.

Along with the maps comes a patch for Resistance that, among other things, globalizes the servers. No matter what version of the game you have you will soon be able to play anyone worldwide. Other features of the patch include highlighting team names to reduce the likelihood of friendly fire "accidents", more skins, the ability to access the PlayStation Store from within the game and full integration of the PSN Buddy list into the game.

The patch is expected to be released in North America first with UK/ European gamers getting it shortly after.

Wow, this sounds good to me. I was only expecting the two maps and the global play, didn't know about those other features.

I'm a big fan of Resistance, and I'll definitely be back on there playing after we get that update.

Yess ive been waiting for this, i had only heard about more maps and global play aswell, so what a great surprise....
I play Resistance the most on my PS3, mostly online, im just a bit annoyed it took Insomniac/Sony so long...
When ma new PS3 comes i will be getting the new patch ASAP....

Just read a few more interesting things about this patch.

Chimera Vs. Chimera Deathmatches will be GONE from the online gaming. For anyone who has played Resistance, you'll know that that is a GOOD thing. (It didn't say it that was only for ranked matches, but I'm guessing that is how it is going to work).

Also, if you see a cheater or glitcher in game, you will be able to report them in-game somehow with a "Report" button. Very useful. I don't see cheaters too often, but when I do, I always write their names down so that I can pm them to Insomniac. Now I won't have to anymore.

This is going to be a really good game update. Hate that some of it is going to cost me, but hopefully they will go easy on my wallet this time.

From what I heard, the map pack is going to be delayed. Maybe next week. I sense this week's store update will be another crappy one. I'm pretty sure that lame racing game will be added. That's probably going to be it, maybe along with a video or two.

Yepp should be good, ive also seen the two maps, (westmorland and Camborne), in action, they look pretty cool and very fun to play.

I hope it doesnt cost too much, i would pay £5.00 max...

It was said only a few days ago that a May release was expected for US gamers. Obviously this is not going to happen, so i would say another week or so until its released...
The PS store updates are crappy at the moment hopefully some exciting stuff will be heading are way soon.

They would just be usable on the full game, jrs.

I'm with you on the multiple videos of the game- enough already. One or two is plenty, give us more demos at least.

Back to the original topic- the map pack/ patch has been delayed until sometime next week. Insomniac wanted to be sure the servers could handle the load of going global with the matches.

Are us Europeans still going to get the patch after the US or is it going to be the same date now ????

The delay is bumped the same amount of time for all regions. Europe/ UK will get it "soon after" the US on its new date.
