| Right this will be a quick summary and it may not make a lot of sense but I just wanted to get the info. to you, we'll reveal full details later. Anyway, here is a round-up of what was just shown on the Sony Press Conference (which was amazing may I add). First off we have news on a NEW PSP colour and bundles. First off we have a brand new Ice Silver PSP which will come packaged with a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card as well as (I think) a game or movie, I missed that part so I'll add definite details later. Another PSP, which will be limited edition, will be a specially released White PSP with a Darth Vader design on the back. This PSP will be packaged along with the brand new Star Wars Battlefront Rogue Squadron. Both PSP bundles will be released within the next few months priced $199.99 No details relating to these PSPs being released outside North America were released. Also shown was a redesigned PSP that is 30% lighter and 19% slimmer than the original. One other addition to this new PSP- video output! That's right, you can hook up to a television with this new version! Kaz Hirai gave a demonstration by plugging into a Sony HDTV (naturally). After showing a clip from Spider-Man 2 on his PSP he gave the Display button a press and the footage started showing on the tv and the giant screen overhead. Another press of the button and back to the PSP screen. This got a long round of applause from the audience. Now for details relating to HOME on the PS3: Currently the first ever global beta (at least by Sony anyway). New additions to the service (just recently been added): Home can run on a Sony Ericson mobile phone (cellphone) (no details relating to other phone makes was released as a Sony Ericson phone was the phone used) 3d version of Home only available on PS3, practically all, if not all, of the features of Home will be available on other platforms. New spaces that are now under construction: Beach apartment, japanese style apartment, penthouse suite. You can take photos on your phone and put the photo directly into home as a picture on your apartments wall. You can load a game directly from within home - this allows you to network to other gamers also in Home and try to beat them on various ps3 games. By quitting a game, you will be taken straight back to home where you left off. Since the PS3 price drop was put into effect (Monday 08th July 2007) the amount of units sold has increased damatically. This has contributed to the 2:1 sales ratio of Blu-Ray movies to HD-DVD movies. Next I'll talk about the games that were talked about. First of all I think I should mention the PS3 exclusive titles (I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised). The first game detailed as a PS3 exclusive is a follow up to the well known franchise ceated by Epic Games. That's right, Unreal Tournament 3 is a Playstation 3 exclusive title. The second PS3 exclusive, which we already knew about, was Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriot. This franchise, celebrating 20 years with the release of this game, will be the final one in the series. The story about snake will finally end and everything to do with MGS will finally be revealed (all the plots, the loose ends will finally be tied up). This will be Hideo Kojimas last game as well. The game will be all be based around stealth - especially about stealth in the field. Also revealed, was the brand new trailer. It was real-time footage and NOT a movie. The aim of the game is to assassinate Liquid Snake. Metal gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriot will be released simultaneously worldwide early 2008. There was not enough time for further details, so next week in Tokyo, Hideo Kojima will be demostrating what the game is actually like by playing an actual demo of the game (hopefully that demo will become available for download, I know I will be downloading it if it does become available on the Playstation Store). Another PS3 exclusive was GT5 Prologue. This game is following on from the downloadable GTHD, which has now been downloaded by in excess of 1 million users. GT5 Prologue was demonstrated and I must say the graphical visualisations are to die for. I was watching the Sony event in low definition, and even then the game looked amazing. The buildings are so realistic looking I had to look twice to make sure they were not photos or something. The cars look very realistic as well. I know that has been said over the years when the original Gran Turismo was released then 2 and 3 and 4 and HD, but 5 Prologue looks brilliant. Just try to imagine what it will look like in full glorious high definition This game will be released soon (no definite date was provided though). Now for the non-exclusive game titles: Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Assassins Creed kane and Lynch Dead Man Resident Evil 5 Burnout Paradise Madden NFL 08 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix The Simpsons Official Game Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock Medal of Honour Airborne Rock Band And the other games which I wasn't quite sure if they were PS3 exclusives or not: Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction Heavenly Sword, which takes advantage of the PS3s cell processsor and the Blu-Ray format, allowing hundreds, possibly even thousands, of enemies on screen all at the same time. NBA 08, which will play at a full 1080p at 60fps (frames per second). You will be able to challenge people online in either a 5v5 or 1v1 matchup. Uncharted Drake's Fortune. InFamous, which is due to be released sometime in 2008. LittleBigPlanet, which was summed up in three words - Play Create Share The Press Conference was then ended with a 5 minute or so video of KillZone 2, which looks absolutely amazing. As I mentioned first, this is just a basic round-up of what happened. We will hopefully provide further details soon. Be sure to check out the Downloads sections as new videos from E3 are uploaded for your viewing pleasure. Jay Site Squad Last edited by Lyndon M STAFF : 07-11-2007 at 02:15 PM. | "Added a bit more to your report, Jay- you missed the bit about the slimmed down PSP with video output. (shame on you)" Exsqueeze me? Oh come on, I thought I'd rounded the Press Conference up pretty well. Besides, when was that shown right at the beginning? Well I missed the first 5 minutes or so due to me net taking years to connect to the live feed, so I have an excuse lolSo did you watch it too then Lyn? Wasn't it brilliant? I haven't seen the other two (Nintendos and Microsofts) so I can compare them to Sonys, but I think Sony did VERY well this year compared to last year. So in case anyone from Sony appears, very well done today. I personally think that did alot to improve your customer satisfaction. All those details released were amazing. Now all we require are downloadable demos of the game shown, especially a deom of GT5 Prologue and, more so, Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriot |

Kaz showed it off when he first got on stage, Jay. Has me thinking it may be time for an upgrade. Sony's conference had a lot of things going for it on all the systems. I haven't checked out the other conferences either but what i see around some other sites says Sony comes out on top of the three.

"... I haven't checked out the other conferences either but what i see around some other sites says Sony comes out on top of the three." Well, I've read up on it Unfortunately, the Playstation store has yet to reflect the goodies (Trailers aren't goodies - I can get them anywhere) we should be getting "Post-press conference". Xbox Live has delivered a number of goodies in the form of playable stuff. I'm happy with it all. If Home keeps shaping up, it'll be a force to be reckoned with, I'm sure.

"...I'm happy with it all. If Home keeps shaping up, it'll be a force to be reckoned with, I'm sure." That Home looks amazing. I had seen clips from the characters like on the street walking along the "boardwalk", but seeing the inside of the "pad" and what you can do while you're there, absolutely amazing. As for downloadable content, that will appear soon I'm sure of it. Lok at it this way, we'll have better stuff to donwload than Xbox people

I enjoyed Sony's most of all - heck even my wife did. I think they focused more on actual games than the other two. UT3, MGS4, and Haze all being announced as exclusives was a nice surprise. And if you haven't seen it yet, you NEED to find and watch that Killzone in-game footage

Sonys press conference was definitely the best. One of the best i've ever seen. The PS3s future is shaping up nicely in my mind, and with all these exclusives, i think Microsoft and Nintendo may come runners up in the end. The Killzone in-game footage was amazing, i enjoyed the uncharted:drakes fortune E3 trailer aswell. Amazing....... Haze looks excellent aswell, the jungle gameplay vid was awesome. However rubbish the bloke playing it was. Lol... And i'm really happy they added an E3 section to the UK PS store aswell. Just roll on these demos.
