To Be Fair To It, Burnout Has Great Speed And Playability,probably Better Than Any Game In The Market But The 2 Above Factors Are A Real Big Dampener On Its Replayability .the Graphics Are Also Not Worthy Of A Ps2!

| | | | | St. Nick "O.k, I Don't Play Racing Games, Or Haven't For A Very Long Time, It All Just Got Ridiculous With The Advent Of The Simulator Above Arcade (or Perhaps That Should Read "fun") Driving Experience. I Bought Burnout On The Off Chance It Might Be Alright, But It's Just Got That One More Go Factor To Stupendous Degrees. The Level Of Challenge (as Opposed To Frustration) Is Perfect, If You Crash, You Know, If Your Timing Had Been That Fraction Better You'd Have Made That Gap. It's Sort Of Like That Feeling You Get When You're Playing R-type Iii And You Know To Get To Where You Want You've Just Got To Improve And You Know That The Improvement Is Possible (the Virtue It's Got Is That When I Was Playing R-type It Required A Near Endless Supply Of Coins, Thankfully Burnout Doesn't Have This Problem).
Burnout, And The Success It Has Had Amongst Gamers (there's Not Too Many Players Who Don't Find It Fun And Addictive) Really Should Be A Sign To Publishers Out There. | | | | | Tanner "This Is One Those Games I Picked Up 4 Months Ago Played It Once And Thought : This Game Doesnt Make Any Sense, You Get Annoying Replays For Every Little Knock, The Scoring For Crashes Is Crap, And The Cars Youre Racing Seem To Appear From Nowhere Even Though You Are Miles Ahead.
It Was Not Until Recently A Friend Persuaded Me To Put It On 2 Player, That Actually Gave It Chance And Thoroughly Enjoyed It. This Game Has Many Faults, But If You Ignore The Crash Replays And Crappy Scoring You Are In For A Treat. The Graphics Are Superb And Car Handles In Typical Arcade Style, And Gameplay Is Addictive.
I'll Be The First To Admit That This Game Is'nt For Everyone (its Very Unforgiving) But If You're Like A Challenging Racing Game - This Is It. I Finished All Championships On Hard With A Muscle Car In 2 Days Of Play; But It Doesnt End Here - You Open Up Survival Mode, Where You Have To Complete 3 Laps Without Crashing - No Thats Hardcore ! To Get The Best Out This Game, You Gotta Learn The Tracks; Find Out Where You Can Build Up Your Burnout And Know When To Use It. Once You Become Used To The Tracks - You Wont Crash As Much Which Will Increase Your Chance Of Getting A Burnout And This When You Really Start Enjoying It. Its Not A Technical Game Like Gt3, The Emphasis Is On Excitement And Thrills, But If Want Any Goodies (extra Cars) You Gotta Work For It.
Burnout Is The Most Exhilirating (just Wait Till You Get Those Burnouts) 2 Player Racing Game I Have Ever Played. I Recommend To Anyone Who Likes Arcade-style Racing Games And Hardcore Racer Fans." | Graphics 18/20

Graphically Burnout Is Exellent And The Handling Really Takes Advantage Of The Pressure Sensitive Buttons On The Dual-shock 2 Controller. There Are About 10 Cars Including A Bus And A Tow Truck. There Are About 5 Main Tracks That Are All Reversed And In Night Or Day Form Giving A Good Variety. Also The Crashes Are Spectacular. Many Racing Games Try To Be Soooo Real That I Can't Even Drive The Car (ex: Gt3). With Burnout You Just Step On It And Tap Left, Right And Blaze!! None Of The Cars Are Very Difficult To Steer. (of Course I'm Probably An Exeptional Driver... Eh Hem!) Sure, When You Are Blazing Down The Road, On Coming Traffic Looks Like Tiny Dots And You Have To Get Up Close To The Tv Just To See Them Coming And Avoid Them. You Only Get 3 Credits Per Championship Circuit. That's 3 Races And Tracks That You Need To Win With Only 3 Credits. However, If You Compolete The Race In The Required Spot, Then A Credit Is Not Used. So If You Win The First Race On The First Try Then You Still Have 3 Credits Left For The Other Two Races... Bla Bla... I Bought This Game Thinking I Would Get A Great Crashing Game, But I End Up Not Wanting To Crash At All. I Normaly Hate Car Racing Games Because They Are Too Hard To Control. | | | | | Matt Yu "Please Note The Amount Of Time I Have Had This Game. Yes, That's A Mere 2 Days. I Would Recommend To Everyone Who Reads This Not To Just Believe What People Say About A Game But To Go Down To Your Nearest Video Shop And Rent It First. I Shelled Out Aus$94 For This Game, And After Playing It For A Full Day And A Half, I've Almost Had It. The Graphics Are Only Mediocre And Don't Come Even Close To Pushing Ps2 Boundaries, The Car Physics Are Abysmal, And While The Difficulty Might Not Be That Hard, It Is Mind-blowingly Frustrating To Get Through The Second Circuit On Champ. Mode, (that Took 2 Attempts), To Get Up To The 2nd Stage Of The 2nd Circuit And Blow 2 Credits On It, Then Only Having One Credit Left For The 3rd Stage, Which, Peculiarly, Just Happened To Have A Full-length Tourist Bus Parked On The Road In The Way Of The Exit To What Must Have Been The Last Corner Of The Last Lap, On Both Times I Tried The Level. I.e. It Was In The Same Damn Position Both Times. The Engineering Of The Game Is Clearly Not Up To Par, And The Only Thing That I Liked Of The Game Was Its Ability To Get Your Adrenalin Going. In The End This Very 'quality' Turns Out To Be Its Own Nemesis - As Adrenalin Turns Into Inexplicable Aggravation. Ahhh. Looks Like This Game Will Do Nicely As My New Dust Collector.

You Only Have To Finish 3rd Or Better In The 1st Two Races In Journeyman But The Last Race, The Hardest One Where They Throw Everything At You, You Have To Finish 2nd. Then You Don't Make It And You Have To Start The Whole Freakin Circuit Over. This Is Insane!! We're At The Point We Don't Even Want To Play It Anymore. We Can't Even Win The First Circuit In Championship, Oh We Almost Won Then The Cars Behind You Come Out Of Nowhere And Pass You. They Should've Designed It So At Least If You Qualify For The 2nd Or 3rd Race It Saves That Data And Lets You Start At The Race You Haven't Qualifed For. You Should Have 2 Credits For Each Race In The Circuit, Not 3 Credits For The Whole Darn Circuit. I Don't Know How Anyone Has Finished A Circuit In Championship Mode. The Crashs Actually Suck, U Hit If Your Lucky You Flip, Other Wise You Just Spin And You Almost Always Land On 4 Wheels... Pretty Cheap. The Fact That You Can Just Push Your Opponents Into The Other Cars Also Sucks... You Just Side Swipe Them And They Go Flying Into The Other Cars. One Thing I Really Did Not Like About This Game Was The Fact That You Can Do This Side Swiping And Have No Damage At All Come Up On Your Car.
