The Game Centers Around A Mercinary For Hire Known As Dante, Now First Off, Dante Looks Hella-cool. Combat Boots, Red Leather Pants, Black Long-sleeve Shirt, Red Vest, Red Trenchcoat, And Black Leather Gloves, This Guy Is Kickin. He's Got The Attitude To Match As Well.
Graphics: The Graphics Were Stunning Through Out The Entire Game. Dante's Hair And Coat Would Move About On The Wind, Weapons Would Actually Open Where They Should (the Slides Would Kick Back On The Guns, The Shotgun Would Break Open, Etc.) Weapon Fire Looked Realistic, And So Did Dante's Movement, Capcom Really Outdid Themselves Here.
Camera: The Camera Views Were Perfectly Built To Surprise You Every Time. You'd Be Focusing On One Enemy In Combat, And When He Died The Camera Would Suddenly Whirl Around To Show Another One Right Up On Top Of You. And Out Of Battle The Camera Would Always Flow Smoothley To Show You Exactly Where You Are Going And Whats Ahead.
Controls: The Controlls Were Excellent, Quick, And Precise, There Was Nothing Holding You Back From Seriously Belting Out The Moves In Battle, Speaking Of Which...
Moves: Hey, You Can't Be Cooler Than Hell And Not Have The Moves To Back It Up Can You? The Controll System Allows You To Flawlessly Mix Sword-swinging Carnage With Bursts Of Gunfire To Make For The Ultimate Combat Experience. It Is Shocking. And When Dante Goes Into Devil Trigger The Action Just Steps Up To The Next Level As He Starts Belting Out Vicious Energy Swipes Or Burning Martial-arts Frenzies.
Playability: I've Owned This Game For A Year Now, And I Still Love To Play It Constantly, That Tell You Anything?
Difficulty: The Difficulty Levels Were A Step Up, There Was "easy Automatic" Mode, In Which The Game Did Most Of The Work For You (this Would Help For People With No Sense Of Style.:-p) Then It Goes To Normal, Which I Often Play, And Then Hard Mode, Which I Still Haven't Beaten Yet, And Of Course "dante Must Die" Mode, Which I'm Sure I'll Get My Ass Whooped In.

The Plot: Warning! The Plot/storyline Of The Game Is Utterly Wafer Thin! Yes, It's All Cliched And Plenty Of Run Of The Mill Themes And Stories. Nothing New And In Fact, Even When You Do Finish The Game, There Is Nothing Memorable About The Story To Make You Replay The Game.
The Graphics: Astounding By Any Standards. The Main Character, Dante, Moves About Fluidly And Is Superbly Animated. The Background Is Superbly Real And Vast With Plenty Of Rooms To Explore. This Becomes Even More True When You Picked Up The Ability To Jump High Into The Air. The Amount Of Space In Which You Can Move Around In Is Amazing.
The Gameplay: This Is What The Game Is Worth Replaying For. The Amount Of Moves That You Can Execute With Deft Tappings Of The Attack Button, The Stylish Way Dante Can Take Out The Enemies, The Impressive Game Engine Which Allows You To 'make Your Combos' And Tactics Against The Various Enemies Are Great Ingredients To Keep You Coming Back For More.the Camera Angle Adjustment During The Gameplay Can Be Frustrating At Times But Certainly This Is A Common Fault Found Far Worse In Other Similar Games. This Is Made Up With An Intelligent Engine Where Dante 'auto-aims' At Enemy Not Seen On Screen. Plus, The Weapons Found In The Game Gives Dante New Abilities And Moves To Fiddle With. The Different Guns Also Demands Different Tactics And Are Useful Against Different Foes. In Short, Its Like The 'thinking Man's Beat Em Up' If You Know What I Mean.it's Even Thrown In With Some 'tricky' Platform Leaps.you Judge Yourself....
The Game Itself Is Relatively Short. You Can Beat It In 4-6 Hours As The Missions Are Designed To Be Short. However, Since You Are Ranked By How Fast You Finish A Mission And How Much Damage And Items Used During Its Course, One Should Really Approach This Game As A Beat Em Up Rather Than Expect It To Be An Involving Storylined Adventure. Also Thrown In Are Secret Missions To Keep You Replaying...
Soundfx: Nothing Ground Breaking. But Apt. The Music Adds To The Spookiness Its Trying To Portray. Other Than That, Nothing Memorable.

I Highly Recommend That Anybody And Everybody Who Enjoys Fun And Challenging Video Games Buy Devil May Cry. There Are So Many Reasons To Buy This Game, Most Of Which Have Already Been Summed Up In Either Magazine Reviews Or User Reviews. One Thing That Hasn't Been Discussed In Very Much Detail Is The Length Of The Game And From A Few Of The Message Boards That I've Visited It Is A Concern For Some People. It's Only Short If You Play It Through Once On Easy Auto And Never Take Any Time To Explore. But That Is Not What This Game Is About. It's Just Flat Out Fun To Play And You Will Most Likely (if You Enjoy Challenges) Find Yourself Coming Back For More And More And More, Trying To Beat The Living Crap Out Of Anything Stupid Enough To Get In Your Way.
This Game Isn't About The Story Or The Cut Scenes, It's About The Gameplay. For Example, Resident Evil Was Less About Gameplay And More About Scaring The Hell Out Of You. Well, After You Play Through It Once, You Know When "scary" Moments Are Going To Happen And You've Seen The Storyline Already, So What's The Point Of Playing Through It Again? For Me, There Isn't A Point Because It Wasn't Particularly Fun Or Challenging To Play. With Dmc It's The Exact Opposite, It's So Fun And Challenging To *play* That You Don't Really Care That Much About The Story. Are The Cutscenes Sweet? Hell Yeah, But That's Not Why I'm Playing The Game. I'm Playing It Because I Like To Play It.
Anyway, That Said, I Would Guess That On Average It Would Take About 9 Hours To Beat It On Easy Auto, Probably 15 To 25 Hours On Normal (depending On How Good You Are, I'm Talking About The First Time You Ever Play This Difficulty), And I'm Not Sure About Hard Or Dante Must Die (both Of Which Are Much More Difficult). I'm Not Talking About How Many Hours Your Save File Says You've Played Either. I Mean Real Time Hours Of You Playing The Game, Dying, Reseting Etc. Even If It Took 20 Hours, On Average, For Normal, Hard And Dmd, That's Almost 70 Hours Of Gameplay. That's Alot Of Gameplay For An Action Game. I Definitely Plan On Finishing This Game On Each Difficulty Just Because, Like I Said, It's A Blast To Play, And With The Increasing Difficulty It Gets More And More Challenging. I Wouldn't Be Surprised If Even After That, I Pick This Game Up Every Now And Then Just To Open Up A Can Of Whoopass. So Yeah, Buy This Game!

The Graphics Are Incredible, Especially The Warping And Blurring Effects For Movement. Actually Watching Dante's Sword Cut The Air Is A Nice Touch. The Lighting Effects Complement The Mood Well.
The Sound Is Sufficiently Beautiful And Creepy, And The Voices Are Capcom-quality, Which Is To Say Fairly Awful. But That's Part Of The Survival-horror Charm.
Control Is Occasionally Over-complicated--in Particular, I Wonder Why We Need Three Buttons Which Fire Dante's Gun And Are Denied A Dedicated "roll" Button, Or The 180-degree Turnaround Button. Just Little Things. Indeed, The Need To Hold The R1 Trigger Down To Aim, Roll, Do Jump-slashes, Etc. Makes Me Almost Long For The N64's Three-handed Controller, Where The Z-trigger Was By Far The Best Feature. Certainly Would Have Helped Here.

It Has Real Time Lighting Effects Unlike Any Seen In A Game Before, Matched With An Amazing Electrical And Fire Effect, Topped Off With Some Awesome Character Models. Movements Are Done With Style And A Bit Of A John Woo Flair. The Menus Are Even Awesome Showing A 3d Rendered Gun, The One You Are Choosing To Equip, And As Soon As You Hit X The Gun Fires. The Game Is Full Of Subtle Details That Really Add To The Realistic Graphical Style Of The Game. There Are Times In Devil May Cry That You Feel Like You Are Playing A Work Of Digital Art. Enemies Are Designed With A Demonic God Like Flair And The Underworld Is Amazing.
