First Off, I'll Let You Know What Type Of Game Turns Me On, So To Speak. When I Buy A Shoot Em Up Game, I Look For Realism, Open-endedness, And Of Course, Replayability. Some People Enjoy Being Rambo - Taking 50 Gunshot Wounds And Continuing To Play, Having A Magic Radar That Tells You Exactly Where All The Bad Guys Are, Etc.... These Things Just Come Across As Cheating To Me, And Diminish My Enjoyment Of The Game. For Instance, Though Metal Gear Solid 2 Is A Great Game, It Just Irks Me That I've Got A Radar That Not Only Tells Me Where The Bad Guys Are, But In Which Direction They Are Looking! Ridiculous! I'm Even Getting Tired Of Health Status Bars In General. I Much Prefer Rogue Spear's Method Of Tracking A Players Health: A Green Dot Means Your Okay, A Yellow Dot Means Your Hurt, But Still Able To Carry On (albeit With A Limp, Usually), And An Orange (incapacitated) Or Red (dead) Light Means That Your Game Is Over. If You Want People To Play A Game On The Edge Of Their Seat, Take Away Their Health Bar And Make Every Bullet Lethal! Anyway... That's Just Me.
Hitman 2 Is Great Because It Is Original, With Great Sounds And Music That Really Put You Into The Game If You Know What I Mean, And Graphics That Are Wonderful As Well. But What Earns High Marks From Me, Is The Open-endedness Of The Game. You're A Hitman Trying To Knock Of One Or Two Guys Per Mission And There's Always Several Ways You Can Go About Doing It! It Feels Great! If You Don't Feel Like Sneaking Through A Building To Find Your Target, Go Sit Across The Street And Maybe You'll Be Able To Snipe Him! There Are Dozens Of Virtual Acres In Each Level, And I Know That I Haven't Traversed A Tenth Of Them Yet! It Makes You Want To Play The Same Mission Over And Over Again, Just To See New Sights, Find New Ways To Take Out Your Target, And Perhaps Get The Coveted Silent Assasin Rating At The End Of The Level. You Can Even Take People's Clothing After You Wack Them And Walk Around In Disguise!
Let's Talk About Tension For A Moment. Hitman 2 Really Pours On The Tension As If It Were A Tangible, Physical Thing... Like A1 On A Steak! The Music And Spooky Sound Effects Do It For Sure, And There's Just Something About Being In Somebody Elses House (and You're Not Supposed To Be There) That This Game Captures And Serves Up On A Silver Platter. I Love The Tension This Game Generates!
Now, There Is A Health Meter, And There Is A Map That Tells You Where The Bad Guys Are ( You Have To Hit Select To Pull It Up.. It's Not Up On Your Screeen While You Play... And In Hitman 2 You Can't Sustain 50 Rounds Like Most Other Shooters Out There... You Can Even Get Head Shot - One Bullet, And Your Dead), Those Two Things, The Health Meter, And The Magic Map Are About The Only Uncool Things About The Game That I Can Think Of. And I Realize That Most People Don't Mind Health Meters Or Wonder Maps.... It's Just A Pet Peeve Of Mine, So Take My Comments With A Grain Of Salt.
Hitman 2 Is A Thinkers Game, A Realistic Game, Definitely An Open-ended Game With A World Of Possibilities, And The Replayability Factor Is Through The Roof, Which Says A Lot These Days. Hitman 2 Is A Rare Find, And I'm So Glad That I Took The Chance, Not Knowing What I Was About To Get Into, And End Up With What Is, Without A Doubt, My Favorite Ps2 Game." | Graphics 15/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 20/20 | 92% | Last updated on 2003-06-19 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 7 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Rick "Total Waste Of Money! "the Metal Gear Solid Of Contract Killing" Thats What It Said At The Back Of The Case, So I Decided To Buy This. Let's See I Put About 10 Hours In This And Then It Went Back Straight To Store For An Exchange. Flaws? Yes First Off The Music Sucks(live Orchestra) Not My Stuff.
Second, The Game Play Is Not Smooth, Kinda Hard To Shoot People. Third, When The Guards See You, A Message Comes On The Screen "you've Been Spotted" How Lame Is That? And How Can U Compare A Game Such As Metal Gear Solid To This Crap? Another Thing Too Is When U Are Finished Killing Your Targets, U Have To Run Back Into Your Boat Which Takes 4 Minutes Just To Finish The Level! Little Hint For These Idiots, How About Ending The Level When U Are Done Killing The Targets? I Don't Want To Be Running Back To My Boat I Already Did It When I Left The Boat! Ohhhh Damn Nevermind This Game Frustrated Me!! That's My Opinion And I'm Sticking To It~

| | | | | Keith Macdonald "This Is One Challenging Game! Kudos To Those Who Made It. To Those Who Are Playing This Game For The First Time, Be Patient. This Is Not One Of Those Half-assed Bang Bang Your Dead Games. This Really Requires An I.q. To Be Successful. You Must Concider All Information Provided To "47" Before You Can Complete A Mission. Covering Your Tracks (concealing Bodies) Is Paramount. Moving Stealthily, And Killing Silently Is A Must. I Am By No Means Good At This Game (yet). But, I Find Myself Trying Missions Several Different Ways Before Succeeding. And Even Then I Only Just Barely Make Out Alive. This Game Will Not Be Collecting Any Dust On My Shelf For Quite Some Time. Good Luck Everyone And Post Some Tips If You Have Any...i Could Use Them." | Graphics 11/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 20/20 | 87% | Last updated on 2002-11-23 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 7 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Daniel Dawson "You May Be Thinking That This Game Is A Simple And Plain Shoot Em Up With Nothing More Than Guns And Blood. Of Course If You Were To Think This You Would Be 99% Wrong This Game Is Anything But. Skill, Speed, Fast Thinking, And Expert Timing Is Required To Even Plan Your Assasination. Carrying Your Assasination Is A Whole Diffrent Matter You Need To Do It In Perfection You Cant Just Run Into A Room And Kill Every One In There Other Wise Your Dead Meat Its All About Brains And Stealth. This Game Far Supassed My Expectations I Expected Probably The Same As You "just Another Shoot Em Up" How Wrong Could I Have Been. The Story Starts In Scily , Italy Where Codename (alias) 47 Is A Retired Hitman He Works At A Church With A Priest And He Confesses All Of His Sins To Him About How Hes Killed People For Money. The Preist Is Understanding But Unforunately For 47 The Priest Is Kidnapped And 47 Has To Get Him Back Whilst Of Course Still Doing Jobs For His Old Employer. (weak Storyline I Know) But Never The Less Hitman Is Sent Everywhere St Petersburg, Japan, Malaysia, Nuristan And India To Succeed In A Whole Host Of Missions In These Destinations. With A Huge Variety Of Diffrent Weapons Including Around 40 Approximately. Including All Diffrent Kinds Of The Hitmans Best Friend 'the Sniper Rifle'. The Games Graphic Are The Most Noticable Thing With Beautiful Surroundings And Smooth Body Graphics, And The Way A Body Falls When It Has Been Shot Is Amazing Its So Realistic Its Nearly Real. In All This Is A Game Worth Getting For A Trues Fanatical Shooter It Has Brawn But For A Master Tactition It Has Brains Dont Be Mistaken "you Will Like It"." | Graphics 15/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 18/20 | 90% | Last updated on 2002-10-18 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 14 days. | | | | |
