Some Nice 128 Ps2 Graphics, Not As Polished Up As Gran Turismo 3 A-spec.
But Its Fun And Pleasing" | Graphics 11/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 18/20 | 85% | Last updated on 2002-04-07 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 1 days.
| | | | | Matt Wagg "I'm An Old Player That Harks Back From The 8 Bit Days So I Guess I'm A Little Disapointed With The Current Crop Of Graphically Gorgeous Games. So Mot Gp Was Bought With That Mindset. That It Was Going To Be Pretty But With Not Very Much Depth.
I Was Suprised To Find A Bike Racing Game That 'felt Right'. Anyone Who Has Ridden A Bike At Quick Speeds Will Know That No Game Has Really Got The Physics Of A Bike Right. Ok So The First Person View Isn't Right But The Third Person Is Pretty Good At Suspending Your Belief And I Found That I Was Getting Immersed In The Game.
After I Had Got Over Being Impressed That Namco Had Got Things Right Both Visually And Auditorally, The Faults Started Making Themselves Apparent.
Obviously The Most Blatent Ommsion Is The Fact There Are Only 5 Tracks. Anyone Who Is A Fan Of Moto Gp Will Know That There Are A Lot More Than 5 Circuits That Make Up The Series.
I Can't Imagine A Situation Where A Formula 1 Game Would Get Away With Only 5 Tracks So Why Should It Be Ok To Skimp On The Tracks Just Because It's A Bike Game.
Once Over That The Other Big Problem Is One That Is Affecting All Racing Games To A Certain Extent, That Is Ai. The Problems Are That It Is Scripted And There Is No Room For You On The Track. The Computer Controlled Riders Will Happily Bump You Off The Pre Programmed Line That Has Been Set For Them And Will Crash Into You For The Same Reasons.
Obviously This Isn't A Good Thing When Playing On The Hard Difficulty Setting As You Get A 10 Second Penalty For Going Off Track. Many Times I Have Lost Races Because The Ai Has Just Bounced Me Off The Track Giving Me The Penalty.
I Know You'll Say It's Down To Bad Riding, But Try Holding A Racing Line And You'll See What I Mean.
The Graphics Are Solid If A Little Bland. I Feel That More Detail Could Have Been Put Into Them And The Bikes Could Have Been A Little More Polished, Though There Are Some Nice Touches Like The Working Suspension, It Needs Work To Make It A Killer Game. Though It Is Great Fun There Are Too Many Of The Little Things Not Right For Me To Recommend It For Serious Racing Gamers, But If You've Never Ridden A Bike Rest Assured Namco Have Got That Right." | Graphics 11/20 Playability 20/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 11/20 | 50% | Last updated on 2001-09-03 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 52 days.
| | | | | Matt Cody "As A Keen Biker I Have Always Felt Let Down By The Rest Of The Simulations On Offer. However That Certainly Changed After Purchasing This Game On The Ps2.
The Graphics And Gameplay Complemented Each Other Perfectly And The Replays Are Probably The Most Impressive Part Of The Whole Game. At One Point You Get An Aerial View From A Chopper And The Sound And Graphics Have To Be Seen To Be Believed.
Most Games In This Area Seem To Suffer When It Comes To Realistic Speeds And Actions But Moto Gp Makes A Memorable Attempt To Ensure That If You Are Tearing Round The Track At Great Speeds You Know It.
One Of The Only Draw Backs Is The Lack Of Tracks But With The Gran Turismo Like Challenges This Keeps You Playing. The Difficulty Levels Are Well Set, Initially The Normal Level Is A Challenge But This Can Be Quickly Mastered. However The Hard Level Is The Real Treat Of The Game As Targets Set Are Achievable But Do Require A Great Deal Of Skill And Practice. As You Progress Through The Seasons Better Bikes Become Available Allowing You To Finally Challenge For The Top Spot And Become The New Mick Doohan.
Overall I Would Recommend This To Anyone Who Enjoys Bikes And Racing." | Graphics 15/20 Playability 43/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 15/20 | 82% | Last updated on 2001-08-23 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 14 days.
