It is a third person perspective action game (much in the vein of Grand Theft Auto) where you can play the games story missions, or vere off and tackle some random crimes and alternative missions. "

Mike Stanzione "Overall This Game Is Fun And Entertaining, Especially If Your A Fan Of The Old Spider-man Comics/cartoons/etc. It Actually Makes You Feel Like Your Spider-man. For Example, If You Ever Pretended You Were Spider-man As A Kid, Any Powers/skills You Imagined Having, You Can Basically Do (once You've Learned The Controls Of Course). The Free-roaming Of Ny City Is Pretty Cool, But The Side Missions/events Available Between Storyline Missions Are Kinda Weak. The "crime Alerts" That Randomly Come Up While You Roam The City Are Fairly Repetative. The "crime Wave" Missions (aka Gang "crime Patrol" Missions) That You Can Start At Informants Are Also Very Repetative And The Only Difference Between The Different Gang's Missions Are The Look Of The Bad-guys. Then The Only Other Thing To Do On The Side Of The Storyline Is The Little "challenges" Which Are Basically Just Races Through The City. Another Thing That Made This Game A Little Less Fun/entertaining Was That Anything Cool & Unique That Spider-man Does To Save People (ie: Throw Bombs In The Air/water, Break Open Doors & Chains, And Other Unique Skills) Are All Really Easy Button Presses Of Square/triangle/circle/x. Almost Like A Cheesy "simon Says" Thing. Now The Storyline (aka Story Missions) Are Awesome And The Bosses/boss Fights Are Fun, Unique, And Exciting. Even If You Have Or Have Not Seen The Movie, The Story Is Still Interesting And The Cut-scenes Are Still Interesting To Watch Instead Of Skipping (at Least The First Time Around). After Completing The Storyline Missions You Get To Free-roam The City Collecting Spider Symbols And Metorite Chunks (as Well As The Obvious Side Missions/events). Overall I'd Say This Game Is Worth Playing, And For A Ps2 Game Released After Ps3 Came Out, It Is Really Cool."

Very Poor - an embarrassment to the console
Nothing spectacular, but still functional
Quality visuals that clearly show the power of this machine
Graphical masterpiece that is amongst the best currently available

Makes little use of the CD capacity and audio hardware
Functional sounds that compliment the on-screen action
