PS2 Review SUMMARY and SCORE
Tom Rooney  "Having Been A Huge Fan Of Rainbow Studios Other Ps2 Effort, Atv: Offroad Fury I Was Certainly Anticipating Their Next Ps2 Title Called Splashdown. Happily I Was Not In The Least Bit Disappointed.

Apparently Using The Same Gameplay Engine (albeit With Some Minor Tweaks Here And There) From Atv, Splashdown Is An Arcade Style Racer With Sea-doos Played Out On The Open Water. Control Is Tight As All Hell And The Gameplay Mechanics Are Top Notch. The Crafts Respond Beautifully And Pulling Off Tricks Is A Snap And Quite Enjoyable To Boot.

The One Thing That Really Stands Out Though In Splashdown And Virtually Eclipses The Gameplay Is The Water. Without A Doubt Splashdown Features The Best Looking Water In A Videogame To Date. The Effects Are Mesmerizing And The Wakes Created By The Sea-doos Also Affect The Crafts Around You. The Only Unfortunate Part Of The Water Is The Fact That There Are No Real Waves To Contend With. Yes There Are Little 4-foot Blips Here And There But Nothing To Really Sink Your Sea-doo Into. Regardless, The Course Layoutsare Brilliant And Challenging And Gamers Are Going To Love Every Inch Of Them.

The Only Real Drawback I Had With The Game Is That It Is Either Too Easy (on Easy Mode) Or Way Too Damn Hard On Hard Mode. The Gameplay Also Got A Bit Stale After Many Hours Of Playtime, But I Did Find Myself Going Back To Play The Game Over And Over Again…but Just In Short Bursts.

If You Like Racing Games And Are Especially Looking For A Watercraft Game For The Ps2 I Can Easily Recommend Splashdown. It Is A Very Good Racer But It Just Doesn’t Have A Ton Of Depth."
