| | | | | Ben Howard "I Think The Game Is Great. The Cars Are Great And The Graphics Are 10 Out Of Ten. My Favourite Car Is The Peugeot 306 Gti. I Thought The Cars Could Of Gone A Little Faster And Were A Little Bigger. Apart From This The Game Is Ten Out Of Ten. The Storyline Is A lot More Realistic Than Gta Vice. And The Cars Handle A lot More Realism. I Bought Mine The Day It Came Out." | Graphics 18/20 Playability 50/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 20/20 | 97% | Last updated on 2003-06-20 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 52 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Anthony Murphy "Graphics Are Great But That's About It. This Game Is Far To Easy To Complete And The Fact You Can't Visit Inside Any Shops, Buildings Or Do Anything Else In Free-roam Mode Makes This Game Very Dull Indeed. It Also Made Me Very Depressed Playing It, London City Is Just So Dull And Gloomy You Just Wanna Kill Yourself Before The End... No Beaches, No Sun And No Fun. I Completed This Game In A Few Days And I've Never Put It Back Inside Since It's Release." | Graphics 18/20 Playability 10/50 | Sound 2/10 Lastability 3/20 | 33% | Last updated on 2003-06-04 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 52 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Dustin Bergstrom "Man This Game Rocks! I Love All The Moves You Can Do Like The Holstering Of Your Gun, The Strangle-to-gunpoint Hold, And Stealth Moves On Objects. I Wish The Guy Had A Run Buttom To Make Him Move A Bit Faster, But Otherwise I Think This Game Is A Must-have Game If You Like A Criminal-style Mgs, James Bond, Or Other Shooter/stealth Type Genre. Even After You Beat It, It's Fun To Play Again, Kinda Like Grand Theft Auto, Which This Game Really Reminds Me The Most Of. Cars Kick, Passengers Shoot, Spike-strips, And More. Plus Your Ol' Pals The Yardies And Triads From Gta. Gotta Love It Man..." | Graphics 18/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 10/10 Lastability 20/20 | 96% | Last updated on 2003-05-04 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 28 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Rick Dastik "The Getaway Is An Extremely Artful Game/movie That Suffers From It's /movie Status. The Game Is Well Made And With Excellent Dialect And Great Graffics, But Unfortunaly The Playablity Is Difficult And Has A Serious Lack Of Options. I Personally Am Pleased That This Is The Direction That Game Designers Are Headed And Can Only Hope That The Problems Are Purely Growing Pains For This Sub-genre." | Graphics 20/20 Playability 20/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 15/20 | 64% | Last updated on 2003-02-28 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 14 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Dave "This Game Was Cool Until I Got To The 12th Stage. This Stage Is Worthless. If You Succeed In Getting All The Way Across London And Make It To The Boat, Get Some Rest (but Don't Turn It Off) Before Going Any Further; You Are In For A Long Night. They Have Made This Game Into A Task That Is Neither Fun Nor Entertaining; Yet Somehow Addictive.
Best Of Luck Finishing This Stage, And If You Do Email Me And Tell Me How It Was Done. Patience And A Strategy Guide Are Of No Assistance. The Character Movement In This Game Was Obviously No Importance To The Programmers. The Character Continually Studders And The Viewing Angle Is Horrible When Going Around Corners Or Turning Around.
Hours Of Frustration That Must Be Endured Just To Get To Free Roam Mode." | Graphics 7/20 Playability 20/50 | Sound 5/10 Lastability 11/20 | 43% | Last updated on 2003-01-31 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 14 days.
| | | | | John Gunners "For Months Prior To Its Release, The Getaway Had Me Sweating With Anticipation With Its Clever Advertising Campaign And Teasingly Few But Nevertheless Amazing Screenshots.
Upon Purchasing My Copy On The Second Day It Was Released I Was Quite Pleased To Find A "parental Advisory : Explicit Content" Sticker On The Front Of The Box; "wow!" I Thought To Myself, Finally Something With Some Serious Adult Content!
After Selecting A New Game, I Was Treated To A Brilliantly Directed In-game Cutscene With Fully Rendered Characters Boasting Photo Realistic Faces. Cockney Accents Are The Order Of The Day In The Getaway And You Straight Away Feel That You're In An Uncensored Version Of The Bill Meets Lock Stock 'n Two Smokin Barrels. This Is Not One For The Kiddies!
The Game Wastes No Time In Immersing You In The Deep End As You Assume The Identity Of Former Crim Mark Hammond In The Third Person Perspective. After The Afforementioned Cutscene Shows Some Particularly Nasty London Crims Slaying Your Wife And Taking Your Kid, You Find Yourself At The Beck And Call Of Charlie Jolson, Head Of The Bethnal Green Mob, Who Seeks To Destroy All Competition To His Gang, Holding Your Kid Hostage So You Can Do His Dirty Work.
The Graphics Are A Real Treat, There Are Seventy Five Square Miles Of Real London Streets For You To Explore In Over 50 Different Vehicles Ranging From An R33 Gtr Skyline To A Bedford Van! Imagine Fleeing In A Stolen Rover With The Filth On Your Tail After You Shot The Driver, Running A Roadblock Near The Tower Of London And Then Having An All Out Gun Battle In Front Of Buckingham Palace With The Triads, Yardies And The Filth After Your Car Catches Fire And Grinds To A Halt! Fantastic Stuff! Speaking Of Cars, The Cars Look And Behave Like Their Real Life Counterparts And The Damage Engine Is Awesome. Not Only Do The Cars Crumpled And Mangle Realistically, But Bulletholes Appear In The Windscreens Before They Shatter, Tires Can Be Shot Out Individually, And A Few Well Aimed Rounds To The Radiator Can Blow The Engine.
The Basic Aim Of The Game Is To Run Around London, Performing All Sorts Of "errands" For Charlie, Ranging From Hitting Your Old Gang Mates To Taking Out The Crooked Head Of The Flying Squad At The Local Cop Shop. You'll Be Dying Many Times Over Both In Combat And In Car Before You Manage To Crack The Levels, It Really Can Be Frantic When You're Taking On Five Or Six Guys With Shotguns And Ak's And The Shit Has Hit The Fan. The Way The Baddies React To Being Shot Is Very Convincing, Head Shots Will Result In An Instant Kill, Leg Shots Will Make Them Limp And Wherever You Hit Them, The Claret Sprays Freely On Anything Nearby, Wether It Be Walls, Crates Or Even Vehicles. Nice Touch!
There Are 24 Action Packed Missions To Keep You Entertained (twelve As Mark Hammond, And Twelve As Dc Frank Carter) And The Action Is Diverse Enough And The Content Adult Enough To Keep You Coming Back For More. This Game Even Has Tits In It!
The Only Niggling Little Flaws I Could Find Were A Tiny Little Bit Of Slowdown At Times, Occasionally Frustrating Camera Angles, The Lack Of A First Person Driving View And The Inability To Skip Cutscenes. These Flaws Are Strictly Minor Really, And Dont Detract Significantly From What Is A Sterling Title.
A Very Adult Experience With Enough Four Letter F-words To Make Even Bill Connolly Cringe, The Getaway Is Big, Brutal And Bruising. Dont Let It Getaway From Being In Your Collection." | Graphics 15/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 18/20 | 90% | Last updated on 2003-01-14 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 14 days.
| | | | | Graeme Nairn "Great Missions Very Hard And Long But Also Rewarding Not As Good As Timesplitters2 Or Gta Vice City. Shooting Is Hard At First But R1 Auto Aim Is A Whole Lot Easier Cars Are Great Snd So Is London Not A Must Buy But Still Very Playable" | Graphics 18/20 Playability 33/50 | Sound 5/10 Lastability 15/20 | 71% | Last updated on 2003-01-10 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 21 days. | | | | |
| | | | | James Marson "This Game Is Absolutely Fantastic. Much Better Then Vice City. Graphics Wise. Fantastic. The Cars Look Like Proper London Cars And The Mapping Of London. Superb! Gameplay Is Good And The Storyline, Well What Can I Say? There Are A Few Swear Words But That Is How People Really Are!
Overall This Is Great. A Must Buy!" | Graphics 18/20 Playability 50/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 18/20 | 95% | Last updated on 2003-01-10 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 52 days.
| | | | | Rahul Suresh "I Think The Getaway Is A Good Game But It Lacks Fun Because It Is Too Serious Into The Game Unlike Gta:vice City, But The The Getaways Realism Is Very Good. The Graphics Are Good But It Slows Down Too Much.
There Is Supposed To Be 50 Cars Plus 10 Secret Cars But I Cant Even Find 20. The Cars Are Very Slow. It Is Quite A Dissipointing That The Team Has Been Working On The Game For Over Three Years They Have Been Wasting Too Much Time Mapping Out London.
Overall It Is A Good Game Which I Recommend For Everyone Apart From Little Kiddies. It Has Good Missions Good Story Line Also Ok Gameplay. I Think More People Will Be Playin Vice City After A Few Weeks After The Getaway Is Put Away In The Cabinet." | Graphics 11/20 Playability 43/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 15/20 | 78% | Last updated on 2002-12-31 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 28 days.
| | | | | Marc O'connor "The Getaway Is A Fantastic Game, It Is Everything I Expected And More. It Was Definatly Worth The Money.
My First Impressions On The Game Weren't Too High, But I Really Got Into The Game And It Is Superb.
The Levels Are Quiet Challenging Which Is Good Because, It Makes The Game More Interesting And Fun. The Graphics Are Out Of This World, And London Has Been Brought To Life With Perfection.
Overall A Great Game, With A Little Bit Of Everything, I Just Can't Wait To Unlock Free Roam Mode, That Should Be Cool" | Graphics 20/20 Playability 50/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 18/20 | 97% | Last updated on 2002-12-29 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 7 days.
| | | | | James Marson (jjcoolbing) "Absolutely Fantastic!!!! So, So Much Better Then Vice City. The Cars Are Amazing As Are The Controls And Everything About The Game. Ok, The Foot Controls Can Sometimes Be A Bit Niggly, But Its Something Different And Will Make The Game Last Longer! This Game Is A Must Have! An Absolute Must Have! Forget Vice City The Getaway Is The New Master Class!" | Graphics 20/20 Playability 50/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 20/20 | 99% | Last updated on 2002-12-23 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 7 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Andrew Scott "For All Of You Who Are Comparing This Game To Gta, Don't! This Game Is Revolutionary, Imagine The Violence Of Gta 3/vc, The Stealth Of Metal Gear Solid, The Gunplay Of Red Faction 2, The Driving Of Gt3 And Driver, Add In Some Completly New Things Such As Taking Hostages, Crouching Behind Objects, Driving Real Cars, And A Completley Mapped City Of London And You're Not Even Close To The Brilliance Of The Getaway, I Can Practically Guarantee That You Will Not Complete Your Missions First Time, You Will Get Shot To Pieces, But Once You Master Crouch Mode, Healing Mode And Stealth Mode, You're In The Zone. Blood Splatters Against Walls And People Actually React To Getting Shot Whi Guns, Not Just Standing There Like Gta3/vc. When You Are Near Death You Will Walk Slower And Stagger About A Bit And Also Aim Worse. Unlike Some Very Annoying Games, If You Fail The Mission, You Don't Have To Do The Stupid Cut Scene Again And You Start Back At A "check Point", Unlike Most Checkpoint Games, You Don't Know You've Crossed Them, Example Would Be In The 3rd Mission, After You've Drove To The Museum, If You Get Killed By Triads, You Don't Have To Take The Long Drive Back Again, You Simple Start Outside The Museum. In Closure The Getaway, Is Better Than Vice City And Is This Years Best Game, Just Can't Wait For A Sequel." | Graphics 20/20 Playability 50/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 18/20 | 96% | Last updated on 2002-12-14 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 5 days. | | | | |
| | | | | John Derek "Hi People I Jost Got This Game Like 4 Days Ago And I Thikk Its A Really Good Game . It Just That U Die Very Easily And There Are No Health 2 Pick Up . And Also While Driveing U Cant Loo K Back And That Sucks. Im On Level 3 Now And I Really Spent Lot Of Time Getting There. " | Graphics 11/20 Playability 33/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 15/20 | 67% | Last updated on 2002-12-13 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 4 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Tricky Dicky "Very Poor Control When On Foot.
No Option To Skip Cut Scenes.
A Big Disappointment,i Dont Think I Would By Another Title From This Studio." | Graphics 11/20 Playability 10/50 | Sound 8/10 Lastability 7/20 | 36% | Last updated on 2002-12-13 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 1 days.
| | | | | Chris Tucker "The Game Is Incredible. A Brilliant Repica Of London And Excellent Graphics. It Does Bear Some Resemblance To Gta3 But Its Much Better As The Handling In The Car Is More Realistic And The Gunfights And Moves Are So Cool. The Best Crim Sim/driving/action Game Ever? Definitely!" | Graphics 20/20 Playability 48/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 18/20 | 95% | Last updated on 2002-12-13 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 2 days. | | | | |
| | | | | Stefanos Bakouris "I Really Believe That This Game Is Revolutionarry. Graphically, There Is Nothing Better Than This. Its Representation Of London Is Amazing!! I Was Actually Driving Around Town, Following All The Street Codes And Its So Fun Doing It!! I Didn't Even Go Half Of London And I Was Behind The Wheel For An 1 Hour!! This Game Is Huge!!the Cars And Handling Is Great, The Story Is Great. Its Just An Awsome Game Without The Missions. The One Thing That Is Disapointing Is The Controls On Foot. When You Are On Foot And Exchanging Gun Fire With Your Enemys The Control And The Camera Angles Are Sometimes Very Frustrating. You Will Die Many Many Many Times Before you Complete A Mission. Not Really Beacuse Of The Diffuculty Of The Mission, But Because Of The Awkward Controls. Besides That Its A Must Have!! My Favourite Game By Far!!!" | Graphics 20/20 Playability 33/50 | Sound 9/10 Lastability 20/20 | 82% | Last updated on 2002-12-10 and based on views after owning/playing for approx 5 days. | | | | |
