PS2 Review SUMMARY and SCORE
Dick Mason  "These Games Are Created To Provide Entertainment For The "average" Enthusiast. Those Who Seek To Hit 500 Yd Bombs Off The Tee, Shooting Below Mid 40s On A Consistent Basis Are Not Seeking To Play The Game For Its Intended Purpose. In What World Could You Tee Off At The Tpc And Expect To Shoot A 40?

I Have Maxed Out All Of The Attributes, And Have Completed All Of The Tiger Challenges, Which Releases Super Tiger Woods. I Am Very Satisfied With The System, Considering I Don't Play The Game Professionally Like Some Of The Whiners Who Complain About How Easy The Game Is, Or The Lack Of Complete Putting Control. Guess What? If Ea Sports Limited All Attributes To A Maximum Range Of 75 To 80%, Especially Power And Putting, You Would Be Hearing Different Stories From Those Persons Who Enjoy Complaining About The Current System. Take Away The Provision To Create Super Players, And Everyone Would Be Complaining That They Could Not Beat Tiger Or Notah Begay. Yesterday, I Had To Shoot A 54 To Beat Notah At The Tpc. It Was Clearly A Score That No Animate, Non-cartoon, Person Could Shoot On That Course. How Much Better Do I Need To Be?

I Find More Satisfaction Competing With Players Of Less Skill, Like Say A Brad Faxon, Than Overpowering The Course With Some Super-player That I Created. This Is A Better Test Of My Mastery Of The Sytem.

Be Careful What You Wish For. I Have A Sneaky Suspicion That Ea Sports May Give People Their Wish And Make The Game Too Hard For The Average Person, To Make The Cave-dwellers Happy. How Sad!"

PS2 Review SUMMARY and SCORE
Chris Hensch  "Great Graphics And A Fast And Smooth Gameplay Make For An Enjoyable Experience. Both Tumbs Up For The General Looks And Feel Of The Game, For The Excellent Camera Angles And The Great Particle Effects For Water And Mist.
The New Swing Method, Using The Analogue Stick, Is Best Mastered By Pressing Your Controller Down Onto A Hard Surface And Holding/moving The Stick With Thumb And Index. Once You've Got The Hang Of That, The Game Becomes Very Easy: Hitting A Perfectly Straight Shot Will Almost Be Too Easy. I'm Now Into My Second-last Match Of The 18 Tiger Challenge-matches And There Is Nothing Left To Learn Or Master For Me, Skill-wise. I Expect To Score A Birdie On Two Out Of Three Holes On Every Course. Too Damn Easy!

There Are Other Rather Strange And Annoying Things.
1. After 4 Days Of Playing, I Have Already Scored 5 Holes-in-hones And Approx.10 Eagles From The Fairway On Par 4's. C'mon, I'm Not That Good! Is The Game Helping Out A Little Bit There? Please Tell Me It Doesn't!

2. The Unlockable 18 Or So Golfers Suck! They Are Basically 3 Or 4 Different 3dmodels With 18 Different Skins. And Their Swing Actions Are More Or Less Identical: Vijay Singh Does Not Resemble His Real Namesake One Bit - And Colin Montgomery's Beautiful Real-life Golf Swing Has In No Way At All Been Motion-captured For This Game. Clearly, This Will Simply Not Do!

3. And Finally, The Putting System Is Absolutely Unsatisfying. As A Player, You Have Only The Faintest Visual Information To Decide On A Put Line - You Have To Rely On An Invisible Caddie Telling You How To Put - And Not Always Telling You Properly. Of Course, With Time You Will Adapt And Start Making Puts, No Problem. But It Is Irritating Nevetheless That All You Can Do Is To Execute A Putt Somebody Else Is Dictating To You. It's Like Putting Blindfolded.

I Hear That In The Pc Version, A Golf Course Editor Will Be Included In The Package. Good! This Would Really Boost The Game. If So, And If You Have A Choice Between Pc And Ps2 Go For The Pc Version."
