Guide to Spiderman 2 on the PlayStation 2

Spider-Man 2 was a great movie and the Spider-Man 2 PS2 game is action-packed and as usual, he is the wonderful savior. When civilians tell Spidey that someone is in danger, you have to go and help them. A navigation map on the screen will show you where exactly the trouble is.

In Spider-Man 2 you are given tasks to complete all over New York City, which is great, but the fact that Spidey’s swinging techniques have improved greatly, is a reat relief to everyone who played the first game on the PS2.

From the first level of Spider-Man 2 there's action, which is wonderful. The game definitely doesn’t lack any action. You will get hero points for all the good deeds you do and when those points add up, you can “buy” new moves and combos. That is also cool as it somewhat allows you to progress with the fighting on your own. Also, Spidey has to get a certain amount of hero points before he can progress to the next level of the game. This lets the gamer feel that they have really fought enough crime for the day and are being rewarded for it.

In the game of Spider-Man 2, you will find it is very open-ended as to how you tackle missions. You can stick to the main movie-related ones and play through the main story but there are also approximately 50 crime scenes that you have to get to at some point. Some of these sub-missions involve other characters that have not yet made their way to the movies such as Mysterio, Black Cat and The Shocker. You may also access the information of crimes by talking to the passerby’s of the city. That’s another awesome part of the game, like New York City really is, is how it is in Spider-Man 2 PS2, all the pedestrians, busy streets, lots of stores, its all very realistic.

The controls for the game on the Sony are so simple to master. By using only three buttons on the control you can bind, kick, punch and toss your attackers. This is perfect as it allows you to concentrate more on the gameplay without getting distracted by which buttons you have to press.

The main characters on Spiderman2 are exactly like they are in the movie, it’s excellent! It will seem like you are watching the Spiderman 2 movie when you see how he swings from building to building. The overall graphics of Spiderman 2 are not superb, but they are good. The best part of the graphics, which was done amazingly well, is the effect of the sky. The colors from orange and red to dusk and dawn are beautiful!

The overall gameplay is excellent and very realistic, but there are a few negative points of Spiderman 2 PS2, these are the fact that there is no option to play online and the voice acting was not all that good. Although, it was cool that the actors in the movie voiced their characters in the game, but their lines were just way too dull, boring and meaningless. But besides that, Spiderman 2 is an amazing game to play.
