Guide to Surfs Up on the PlayStation 2
If you are a fan of the water and you enjoy surfing, you should try Surf’s Up on the PS2. It isn’t much of an action game, there’s more adventure than anything else.
If you haven't already guessed, its based on the movie “Surfs Up” and you can play as the characters in the movie on the game.
The character you choose to play in Surfs Up on PS2 goes on a journey through the levels on grind rails and you have to make sure you miss all the obstacles that you come across.
Throughout the level of this PlayStation2 game you are surfing a wave and you can perform tricks when you wish to do so. There are many different tricks you can pull off while in the air, some of the bigger tricks can only be performed when you managed to build up the trick meter. The meter can also be tied to the speed boosts that you may use to boost past some of your other opponents or obstacles.
When you progress in Surfs Up, you can crash through certain things, pass through gates and collect power-ups. All the tricks you are able to perform will get you the points you need and the way to progress to the next level of this Playstation2 game is by getting a certain amount of points. There are normally two targets for points in every level but you will only have to get one of them in order to progress.
Some people might find it difficult to perform some of the actions on Surfs Up, but other than that the controls are fairly easy to get used to and might take you fifteen minutes to master. The great thing about the Surfs Up PS2 game is that it is rather random. You have to be quick if you wish to avoid smashing into the rocks; it requires some concentration to perfect the moves.
The primary mode of Surfs Up is the champion mode. This is where you progress from level to level while getting the score targets and then once you have accomplished all of that you will take on Tank, who is the big Kahuna in the world of surfing and you will get to him on the last stage of Surfs Up on PS2.
If you play the championship mode for about an hour and a half, you are likely to finish it. But you will probably finish it leaving behind quite a bit, so if you want to get everything on the level and miss nothing before you progress, it might take you more like three hours to get through it all.
Surf’s Up allows two players at a time. The graphics are quite good, the way the water moves and some of the tricks and animations are awesome. The voice acting is brilliantly done by the original actors from the Surfs Up movie. The game is also somewhat funny, but more like a stupid funny, which is great! It cannot be played online in the PS2 version.
