Setting the Scene:

Out of 10,000 Jedi in the Galactic Republic, you are the chosen one. Picked by your peers, you now stand in the Jedi Council Chamber. Encircled by great Jedi who sit in the stately chamber, a mission of great importance to the Republic is about to be bestowed upon you.

As a Jedi, it's your obligation to neutralize the threat of Trade Federation ascendancy and protect the interests of the Republic.

The task may be daunting, but trepidation has no place in the life of a Jedi. Whether you fight alone or cooperatively alongside another Jedi, deftly wield your formidable lightsaber for both offensive and defensive means and let the Force guide you to victory.

Prepare yourself for 10 levels of arcade action, that follows the plot of the Star Wars Episode 1 movie in a similar style to the 'Phantom Menace' game, but this time borrowing ideas from old arcade classics like 'Double Dragon' and more recently 'Fighting Force'.

Sound and Vision:

The first thing you'll notice is the musical score. It's all John Williams background music. The orchestration and music sets the Star Wars mood and puts you into the game. When you enter the first level, you can even hear the famous Star Wars theme while the situation plays in text ala the beginning of all the Star Wars movies.

The sound FX are top-notch as well. The lightsaber makes the all-too-familiar electronic whoosh sound as you swing it and each character has his or her own set of grunts and shouts that add to the scene, but don't overdo it.

You start in the Jedi Council Chamber and that's where you pick which Jedi you want to be. All the ones you'd expect are there, including Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu along with two others. Sadly, no Yoda. The graphics here are excellent and you can tell immediately which character is which.

In-game visuals are also impressive, suffering from no pop-up and flowing smoothly despite their high quality. The robot guards are finely detailed down to the reflection off their noses, even your weapon comes complete with lens flaring and particle effects.

A nice feature of the game is when you hack at an opponent, he doesn't just fall in a pre-set death; he will fall into two pieces if you cut him in half, his arm will fall off if you cut it, or the laser blast will drop him if your lightsaber bounces his fire back at him. Sweet!
