| Setting
the Scene: The Agency is a top secret U.S. intelligence group operates in the shadows of danger and deceit. These people are responsible for the better interests of our nation. But some malcontents at the very foundation of the Agency are directing operations for their own evil purposes. Using the biotech firm, Pharcom, they produced a virus called Syphon Filter. This is the ultimate biological weapon giving any group purchasing it the status of a major super power. Within the organization, Gabe Logan and Lian Xing, are operatives trying to expose and stop corrupt Agency operations. But they are going against major players within the organization. Needing to stop these obstacles, the Agency brands Gabe and Lian as traitors to be stopped by any means. They even go as far as kidnapping Lian and infecting her with the Syphon Filter virus for experimentation and testing purposes. Gabe must find the vaccine and stop the sale of the deadly virus. Teresa Lipan is an ex-agent who assists both Gabe and Lian. They must expose the Agency, leave innocents unharmed, and save the world from a major terrorist threat. Gabe and Lian will need help along the way, but at any turn deception can arise. These missions are not for the weak of heart. Every new task brings new challenges and danger. One moment can bring an all out weapons barrage, unleashing rounds of death and destruction. The operatives participate in a death dance where the person that stops is dead. Some missions will call for a more tactful approach. Stealth will be your greatest weapon and silence will eliminate more enemies. Other times force will not help and escape may be your only option. A whole weapons arsenal is at your disposal. Strategy and precise execution is your only course for a successful mission. Gather information, use it to your advantage, and complete your next task. Patience, intelligence, weapons experience, and an iron resolve will be needed. Do you have what it takes? Sound and Vision: The game uses good background music to set the landscape of your next mission. Each weapon has there own elements of sound. It may be the snap of a crossbow, the rattle of an assault rifle, or the blast of a 12-gauge shotgun. At many key points during the game, either during storyboard sequences or short clips, voices are used. A number of characters have a dedicated actor used for their own voice. This adds to the realism and gives a better overall depth to the game and the story being told. Syphon Filter 2 uses 3D polygons and large detailed environments. It was easy moving my character around and I found the response quick with little or no slow down. The color palette used where mostly dark and ominous. This added to the feel and fit well with the objectives and environmental landscape. During 2 player mode the arenas for death where spacious and used multiple levels. The main character is able to run, crouch, roll, climb, walk, and jump on moving vehicles. What ever your character does, game play moves smooth and looks good.
