PSone REVIEW:

This is the 1st person shooting sequel to the first Medal of Honor released in 1999. The scene sets in Europe during the French Resistance. The object of this game is to liberate your country, set your people free, and win the Medal of Honor.

Manon is the main character; she is a fearless Rambo type chick that is armed and dangerous ready to battle the Nazis of WWII. She must carry out secret missions traveling to a variety of Nazi quarters in Europe. Later on Manon gets drafted into the OSS.

There are 22 levels to concur before you reach your ultimate goal. Each level, of course, becomes more challenging, requiring bigger and better firepower, skill and strategy. Each level has various duties you need to carry out. As you kill your opponents, collect their ammo and other handy items to help you along the way. Pressing the pause button will list the tasks to complete that mission.

Yikes ! Sharpen those shooting skills, the enemy is not easy to kill. It takes precise shooting and quite a few bullets (if you miss) to fatally injure these foes. I shot one in the knee for the hell of it. It looked like it hurt, that Nazi was jumping up and down holding his leg..hehe! Another cool feature is you can destroy breakable items, put bullet holes in walls….well you get the picture. These characteristics add a sense of realism and are a plus in my book. Not to mention those sneaky Nazi bastards hiding and jumping out at you without warning. So be cautious, you never know what is hiding around the corner or above you!!

EA has enhanced this new MOH with more powerful weapons, machinery, and capabilities. For you gamers that like to play dress up, there is a disguise mode, which enables you to easily fool the Germans. I suggest you don\'t run around commando though, it is not the time or place. If that don\'t turn you on, how about combating the Nazis that are sporting around in tanks, and motorcycle side-cars. Give the 2-player mode a whirl too.

To be totally honest, I am spoiled now that I have been exposed to PS2. MOHU graphics were a bit grainy and the details of objects get distorted when too close. PS1 gamers may not have a problem with this and think it is a definite improvement from the first version though. The colors were decent and the scenes were not dark, which gives you greater visibility when playing. The good news for those of you lucky PS2 owners out there, this game benefits greatly from using the PS2\'s texture smoothing routine!

The sound effects were impressive. To get the full effects, hook it up to a Dolby Surround Receiver with some speakers, rock and roll. You can actually hear someone running up behind you getting louder as they get closer, bullets ricocheting, voices in the distance, weapons unloading, you get the idea. Awesome!

Review SUMMARY and SCORE
Loretta Mattie  "If you liked the first Medal of Honor, you will surely enjoy the MOH Underground. Overall, this game rocks and will get your adrenaline pumping. Since, I used to sleep in history class, I found it to be a cool story. It gives you a sense of realism and makes you appreciate the fact that you were not exposed to the hells of WWII.

On the flip side, the game could use some gore, after all, war is a bloody sport. If you\'re not a fan of war / 1st person shooter type games, I wouldn\'t recommend this, you can get bored or disoriented pretty quickly. All in all, it\'s a cool game."

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:

It is very important that you are aware that the criteria we use to obtain review scores on the PS2 is very different to that used for games on the original Playstation (PSone). The Processing and Graphical power of the two consoles are vastly different and as our reviews are graded against what we estimate is the achievable potential of each system, it does not mean in any way that a game scoring 80 percent on PS2 is worse than a Playstation (PSone) equivalent which scores 95.

Christopher Hengler  "Fantastic, I Love This Game. I Find It Too Hard Further On In The Game Though, But It Does Have Some Good Ideas, Like Meeting Other People And Having To Help Them, Or Going Undercover As A Propaganda Reporter.

Would Get Full Marks For Lastability, But Gets Too Hard, You'll Still Be Playing It For Months Though, Even If You Complete It, You'll Be Hooked On Doing It Again, Or Going On 2 Player Mode, This Game Is Also Very Atmospheric, And You Really Do Get Scared Sometimes When You Hear Footsteps, Especially If You're Playing In The Dark.

Worst Thing, Graphics, But These Are Slightly Above Average Anyway, So No Major Problems Here"
