Guide to Fantastic 4 on the PlayStation 2
When Sony released Fantastic Four on the Playstation2, gamers went to the extent of purchasing the game for the fact that the voices in the game belong to the real actors, especially for those that are huge fans of Jessica Alba. Another reason why they purchased this PS2 game was because the fighting moves are upgradable.
You’ll control four characters in the game, and each of these characters has their own special abilities and also unique powers.
Mr. Fantastic for instance, can deform and/or stretch himself to reach unreachable objects.
The Invisible Woman is weak when it comes to close-encounter fighting, but with her special ability to vanish she can cause damage.
The Human Torch is amazingly fast, and with his ability you can ignite your enemies.
The Thing can inflict a huge amount of damage and take it.
When it comes to the action in Fantastic 4 PS2 there isn’t a large variety of fighting styles you can perform on your enemies. Each character has an area attack, powerful attack and a ranged attack, and gamers will probably settle using The Thing or Mr Fantastic to complete the game since their melee attacks are the best.
As you progress in the game, so does your character. You will be rewarded points for your fighting and these points can be shared among your characters to beef up their styles and abilities. In Fantastic 4 on the Sony PS2 there are abilities that require strict planning, and using Mr. Fantastic to hack computers will be your solution. Leaking pipes can be sorted out using the Human Torch and heavy objects can be moved using the strength of the Thing.
Many of these abilities are done with the use of the analog or mashing up a button quickly. However, there are some areas that require a sequence to how these buttons are to be used. This is relatively easy, and the areas where the objects highlight when approaching them.
What Fantastic 4 PS2 is missing can be best described as 'feel'. While you have all that power to pick up cars and toss them around, the control configuration on the PS2 doesn’t make you feel that you possess that power. Also, it is difficult at times for your character to lock onto things.
The enemies on Fantastic 4 on the PS2 can get stuck in corners and in the air, even though they have all the room to navigate. Combos supposed to feel flowing and fluent, but many of the combos in the Sony PlayStation2 version of this game feel robotic.
What the game basically involves is your characters sweeping through rooms and destroying everything in your path. Fantastic 4 PS2 has to be given some credit for the amount of mini-bosses available to fight, and each boss requires a different strategy.
Sadly, playing for a solid eight hours from the beginning will probably having you finishing this PS2 game.
