Guide to Shrek 3 on the PlayStation 2

The Shrek movies alone were great, now that the new Shrek the Third is out on PS2, it’s a must! If you liked the movie you will enjoy the game. It is an adventurous game where Shrek is trying to save Far Far Away, with the help of his friends, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Arthur (Fiona’s cousin) and Sleeping Beauty.

The whole game is a journey so you should never be bored with it while you are playing; there are always new things to do. You always come across interesting things and people but the PS2 version of Shrek 3 is great because it is humorous, just like the movie. Some parts will have you smiling while others will have you in stitches rolling on the floor.

The graphics of Shrek the Third on the PS2 are not all that wonderful. They are good, but the game deserves better. Although, there were a few parts that were done amazingly well, like the wooden puppets, 2-D marionette action, and the cut scenes were great. Very original and played perfectly by the characters.

The voice acting of the Shrek the Third is superb! And it isn’t even the real actors from the movies! The people that did the voice acting for the characters were impersonators but they sound just like the original voices.

The audio music for Shrek 3 PS2 isn’t all that great and could have been better. It can be slightly confusing and distracting to some people when you hear the same tune over and over again. The sound effects are done correctly and the sounds matched the activity. There is no additional echoing or anything annoying like that.

The controls are not difficult at all and they aren’t spread out all over the remote like many other games are. When playing Shrek the third on Playstation 2, there are many different abilities that the character can perform and all are easy to navigate on the remote control. There are a few places where the camera angles are slightly awkward, but it’s not often enough to be frustrating.

Shrek the Third consists of twenty different levels, there are even some levels you will play and not recognize from the movie, but the majority of them are from the movie. Playing as Shrek on the PS2 game, you are able to communicate with the other characters as well as a few extras.

Shrek 3 PS2 features a few extra things like if you collect enough gold coins you can go to the gift shop which adds certain options that can be great fun at parties. The mini games are probably the most fun of the extras; the games that you can play are shooting gallery, a castle game, Frogger-like dungeon and Shrekleboard.

The negative points of Shrek the Third would be that there is no multiplayer option, it cannot be played online and the fact that there is no difficulty level to choose from so once you have completed the game, that’s it. Unless you want to play it again, the exact same way as you did before.
